Hi, I am a new member to this group and new to CML. I was diagnosed
in October and am on Gleevec. It is comforting to see or reassuring to
see that other people have similar side effects and issues with both
the CML and Gleevec. I thought I was going crazy because I had this
weird bone pain and hate taking meds for it,but from what you all have
said its pretty common. I am a nursing director and have a very high
paced job, single parent of two teenagers and am finally (after 5 years
of looking) dating someone wonderful. I figure if I can do this with
CML and every one's support here I can do anything. I have accepted
the fact that I can not keep up the 60 hrs + pace and that some things
are much more important in life like my kids etc.. Work will always be
there, it will just be done in 40 hrs or less per week instead of the
crazy pace I was at. For those having problems with insurance and
funding, I understand those issues too and your Oncologists should be
able to help you out, even as far as getting the meds for free from
Gleevec. I will have my first chromosome test this month after being
diagnoses so am anxious to see where its at and thanks to you here, I
will be asking for a liver workup so make sure that's OK! Thanks again
for all the words of wisdom and support, I am sure glad your here!
