Yes, I had vertigo for almost a year. It has gotten better since I
have had platelet transfusions for iron defiency anemia and I have
been off of Gleevec for 3 months because it was causing my red counts
to go down the in about 3 weeks after each transfusion for 6 months.
My red counts are still gaining but just below normal. My last CBC-w/
diff three weeks ago indicated that the WBC was mid-range normal and
the red counts are just below normal. My last transfusion was early
May and at the end of May they started to decline, when we decided to
attmept the Gleevec vacation and the counts have remained on an upward
climb proving I can produce viable red blood cells and that something
was causing them to reduce. Gleevec is the only medicine I am on
vacation from. My Q-PCR in early may showed only a trace of CML
Cells, and I will have the results of another the end of this week.
My ONC and I agreed that instead of the semi-annual Q-PCR that we
should do it every three months while I am on Gleevec Vacation. While
I am being treated in Kansas City, my ONC has been on research teams
and all my results are forwarded to Dr. K. at the University of
Michigan for consultation. I am only saying what is working for me.
To my knowledge I attempting this, so please consult with your ONC.
