Dear Pat, Many children with CML do well on Glivec. Is Arm doing well on Glivec? Has he been tested by PCR and what is the reading? There are CML children whose parents post on this list who are doing well on Glivec and Sprycel.
If there is no full donor match, transplant risks are increased. You and your husband could always consult a CML specialist to have your minds set at rest. My husband has been on Glivec for 6 years now and we look forward to a normal life. However, my husband is 46 years old and I can appreciate your concerns since your son is only 11 years old and you want to do the best for him. Let us know where you are based and we can give names of CML specialists in your region. Consulting for more than one medical opinion may help set your mind at rest.
