Hi Larry, I just went on medicare so my husbands united healthcare dropped me. We were paying 100.00 a month for Sprycel. Now I had to get a supplement medicare policy at 1800 per year and a prescription policy18.60 per month. Part D. I pay 795 per month for Sprycel until I hit the donut hole and then I pay 2500 per month until I am out of donut hole. I understand I pay out of pocket 4050 and then I am out of donut after that I will pay approx 105.00 per month for sprycel. That happens again each year. In the meantime my husband has to pay his full insurance premimun with a 1250 deductable. until he reaches medicare. I am so greatful for Sprycel and that it is working. The Leukemia Society will reimberse you 500.00 per year. You are right in that gleevec and sprycel are tier 4 drugs. It does take budgeting but we are making it even though we are both retired. contact Novartis they may have a program to help you pay for the drugs. There is help you have to really dig into it.
