Hi everyone! I have an appointment this Friday, so I guess I will find out where I stand as far as my numbers go with the Sprycel.
My question is: Does anyone else on Sprycel suffer from runny nose and nonstop coughing about an hour or so after taking the Sprycel? I had gotten into the habit of taking my med at night so I could sleep through the worst of the side effects of the Gleevec. Now, on the Sprycel, my nose runs and I cough incessantly to the point I have to sit upright and can't sleep. Cough drops help. My GP put me on a steroid nasal spray - it helped some, but not enough. It took me MONTHS to figure out what was causing these coughing spells at night. I thought it was allergies, dust, cat dander, etc. Finally, HELLO, I made the connection between when I take my med and the subsequent coughing. I always take it with food, so, that's not an issue. I found drinking tea helps a little and drinking lots of water helps some. It got especially worse after I had that stinkin' flu. No coughing fits during the day, although I am taking the med at around 3 p.m. so the coughing stops before I go to bed. I went to an ENT one time due to coughing and sneezing constantly. She told me it was from reflux irritating the esophagus which was causing my sinuses to run to coat the esophagus and protect it from the reflux. Made a lot of sense and the anti-reflux pill she put me on greatly reduced the symptoms. Wondering if that's what is going on here.....and can't take anti-reflux meds with Sprycel. Opinions always greatly appreciated!
