Yes, there are often differences in results depending on what lab is
doing the testing, and their way of testing. I used to have all my
marrow and blood sent to Oregon but that became expensive so they were
sent to Mt. Sinai in NYC where I live. The results varied between the
two, and I was told it was a matter of equipment and protocols used.
Now, I have the testing done at Weill-Cornell-Presbyterian, where I am
treated, and have found that if they are double tested, Mt. Sinai plus
Weill-Cornell, the results are sometimes slightly different but not in
a way that causes alarm. Personally, I have a sort of wariness when
it comes to Quest: perhaps it has to do with the atmosphere there or
perhaps it is because of my unhappy experiences with the the techs who
draw blood: they are so pressured and rushed that I always walk away
bruised and the needle stick is usually painful. That's just my
experience: no doubt other people are happy with the service.
