Hi again Jeanie,

It isn't so much of a religious discussion that I meant it to be, but it
just came up with Ahmed. I really believe that it has helped him, and
others through their trials, and if it makes him that much more
comfortable, then that is what works for him.

I have said something that I hold very true, and I don't know of any CML
"Warrior" that hasn't gone through it. Simply put it is that Leukemia is a
very powerful disease that controls the mind as well as the body, and in
some instances it also tries to control the soul.

The more support one has that has CML or any other types of cancer the
better off he or she is. People that are afraid to talk about their disease
with others are usually much worse off for it.

There are some folks that are afraid to even use the word cancer, and will
usually say it as the "C" word. Even today, this is still something for
them, in their minds to be ashamed or afraid of letting anyone else know
about.

I once went to a seminar and met a woman that was diagnosed with cancer in
her abdomen. Her doctor told her that there was nothing that could be done,
and without actually saying it, he told her to just go home and die. By the
way, I was actually told by a doctor when I was first diagnosed with CML
that I was going to die in a few years, and it was told to me right in front
of my wife, so I know the feeling...

She carried this burden on her shoulders for more then nine months without
ever telling this to any of her family. She became very depressed and just
about stopped eating. Her body was breaking down and she thought it was
because of the cancer she was told she had

Then one day she broke down and told her son this terrible news. He was
taken aback and he told her to get a second opinion, which she did.

Upon her examination she was told that she had a clean bill of health but
was anemic. She then mentioned to the new doctor that she was told that she
had terminal cancer. He then put her through a battery of tests to find that
she did not have cancer at all. She told me that she didn't know whether to
cry of laugh.

I still keep in touch with her today.

This is what I mean about the mind can do to the body...

GOD bless,

Marty Gartenberg
