This may not be relevant, but my son was diagnosed with CML when he
was 15 years of age. At the time, and even a couple of years prior to
diagnosis, we noticed his strength and height appeared below average.
As a competitive golfer he always seemed to be battling against
stronger and taller boys. Whether coincidence or not, I'll never be
sure, he grew rapidly after commencing treatment with Gleevec.
Between the ages of 16 & 19, he grew from below average height to
6'1". I, reiterate that during this time he was taking Gleevec 600mg
per day. He is now 24 & just recently (only a month ago) switched to
trial for Tasigna.

I know he didn't commence Gleevec as young as your son, but I do know
that the medication did not interefere with his growth spurt., and am
more inclined to think the CML itself is was interfered with his
growth. I'm hoping that your son too will experience a rapid growth
spurt, but you may need to wait a few more years.

Regards
Gail
