Hi Kothai: I have been on Gleevec since diagnosis in March 2009, bumped from 400 mg to 600 in 2010 which is when I started to experience eye bleeds. I've been told that the Gleevec can weaken the vessels in the eyes so that if you have a heavy cough or any straining, it can cause the bleeds. They are not dangerous but they do look terrible. I have eye patches that I keep with me so that if I have a bleed, I can put one on and look like a pirate! At least the patch keeps people from having to look at the horrible redness in the eye. Have not had one in several months so hang in there - we are all here to support you! Best of luck.
