Good to hear from you Greenie, Yes we all have to do what our body is telling us to do. I cut down on my Sprycel but I am still taking it daily and have been on some type of CML drug for almost 10 years now. Don't let this old CML get you down; fight warrior and keep on fighting. I have been through many battles for my life and am still going to battle everyday. Face the battle with bravery and set your goals on winning. I will be out of town on vacation for a while. I started Gleevec on Jan. 9th 2000 and I been on 300 mg all this time, we tried a brake about 4 years ago for 26 days but the cancer cells showed back up in my blood so that's a no, no for me to stop taking Gleevec. I'll just have to live with the side effects that go with the drug, it could be worse if you know what I mean. Like my stepson said's it is what it is. When I saw him Thursday I brought up the topic of a break from Gleevec. He did not encourage it in the least, and he gave several reasons why he thought it was not a good idea. I was a little disappointed, but...hey! I am doing great, so why meddle? I have taken 300mg of Gleevec daily for at least 8 years now. My side effects are minimal... I am grateful to feel so well and to live the life I choose. I will ask the dr. again in 6 months and see if he has changed his mind yet.
