*Have you ever wondered why I always end any of my posts with 18's? This
was a letter that I once wrote while I was living in Staten Island.*

*18's Marty*

*Our Lady of The Roses*

*P.O. Box 52*

*Bayside, New York 11361*

*To whom it may concern:*

*Before I tell you my story, I would like to make it known to you that I am
of the Jewish faith. But, when you read what I have to say you will
understand something about myself as well as the many others that I and
your rose petals have gone to help.*

*There is no fanfare going on here, just some factual experiences that I
have had, as well as some others that were truly blessed by the card that
you distribute.*

*About ten years ago I was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia, a
disease that is usually fatal. But, there was one hope, and that was a Bone
Marrow Transplant, which I had. For this procedure I was required to live
in a small plastic bubble called a Laminas air flow chamber. It measured
approximately five by nine feet. I was devastated by what I had to do to
try and stay alive. The end result is that I am obviously here to write
this letter to you. I find that I was truly blessed.*

*Since I really felt that GOD had bestowed his blessing upon me, I decided
to do some work on my own to help others go through what I did. And
besides, I had already made GOD a promise while I was in the radiation
chamber just about to go through Total Body Radiation.*

*This promise was of course to help others, and I kept my promise! After
all, you can’t lie to GOD. . . *

*One day, a man by the name of Rocky Annunziato called me to inquire about
him getting a Bone Marrow Transplant. We spoke for hours, and many times
after that, and still continue to keep in touch many years after he had
this procedure.*

*For my good deed, as he put it, he gave me a present. I guess that you by
now must know just what that present was. Well, if not it was one of the
blessed cards, which by the way I still carry in my wallet, a little worn,
but very active indeed. *

*Over the years I have asked him for some more, and he has always obliged
me with several more. I give them to people that are going through some
illness and they always seem to do much better. In fact, one is a child
that is in my wife class. She is an elementary school teacher, and I made
sure that it was I who gave this blessed card to him. The very next day he
started feeling better and made mention of it. He as well as his mother
wrote me letters thanking me for this gift.*

*So, you can see that it truly does help, and you don’t have to be of any
religion for it to work! Remember, that there is only ONE GOD, and he is
all of our GOD, and I truly love him.*

*Now, I would like to make a donation to your cause. But, this is a very
unusual donation. It is in the amount of $18.00. Why 18? Well in the Jewish
religion the number 18 stands for life, and isn’t this what it’s all about?
*

*I ask for nothing in return for this donation except to remain blessed,
and some cards when I am in need of them. Currently, I do have enough to
help others.*

*Sincerely
yours
Martin Gartenberg*
