Hi, As you already know my name is Marty. I always end any of my posts with the numbers 18. So now you know exactly who I am...
It all depends on who your telling that you have cancer. I have personally found that some people may not be so understanding as you might think. Some will even try to avoid you because they think that may "catch" it from you. There was a time after my bone marrow transplant when I had to return to the hospital. I had to wear a mask and gloves. I was so weak that I couldn't even open those heavy glass doors to enter the hospital. Most people would try and avoid me and would not open or hold those doors open for me but rather scurry away from me. Some of my so called friends wanted little to do with me, although some were still very involved with me. So, that is why you have to know exactly who you might want to tell it too. Also Millie, Your not alone, you really learn exactly who are your friends when you mention that you have cancer. There are actually three kinds of people that I ran into. First the really close friends who would call me and come to visit even when I was in the hospital living in the plastic bubble. They were very supportive but far and few between. Then there were the ones that would maybe call me once or so then nothing. I will go into these a bit later. Then there were the ones that never called or wanted anything to do with me. It is these kinds of people that I never have spoken with again because I don't need any of them in my life, because they are simply counterproductive. Of course those that did call and visit me I still have those deer friends in my life and we still remain very close. Now for those that did call maybe once or so... When I was finally finished with my bone marrow transplant and began feeling better I called each and every one of them and asked why only one phone call or why they never came to visit with me. Do you want to know what every one of them said to me? Every one of them said that they felt very badly for me and just didn't know what to say to me. They were all that same way because they didn't realise what it would have meant to me to have them in my life as I went through this nightmare. But such is life and sometimes it just doesn't pay to let the whole world know about your problems because most won't really care anyway. Now I'm not saying this for everyone but you have to know exactly who your talking to, and sometimes you might not know them as well as you think you do. I have also seen many couples that have split up because one had cancer. I find this to be the worst kind of person that would walk out on their spouce because he or she had cancer. There are all kinds of people in this world and you really don't know someone unless you go through cancer and decide to let them know about it. But I will tell you that having cancer you really find out who is your friend and who is not. So, who do you tell???? 18's, On Thu, Nov 14, 2013 at 7:40 PM, LearnToBallroomDanceOnline.com < [email protected]> wrote: > HI All, > > Today's WEGO Challenge; When do you tell people that you have cancer? > http://www.leukemiasurvivor.co/2013/11/do-you-tell-people-about-your-leukemia.html > > -- > > For those of you that know me; you know I have a big mouth!! > > Hope you are all having a great day, > Michele > > [email protected] > > > www.LearntoBallroomDanceOnline.com > > -- > -- > [CMLHope] > A support group of http://cmlhope.com > ------------------------------------------------- > > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "CMLHope" group. > To post to this group, send email to [email protected] > To unsubscribe from this group, send email to > [email protected] > For more options, visit this group at > http://groups.google.com/group/CMLHope > --- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "CMLHope" group. > To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an > email to [email protected]. > For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/groups/opt_out. > -- -- [CMLHope] A support group of http://cmlhope.com ------------------------------------------------- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "CMLHope" group.
