I will always be here if you want or need to talk. I thank you for your
prayers. I need them. I'm so glad that you're doing well on Gleevec. I was
on it for a long time, but never put me into remission. It finally stopped
working for me, and am now on Tasigna which was working fine for me until they
had to take me off of it due to my latest problem...liver disease. Seems it's
always something. They have put me back on 1/2 dose, so when I see my
Oncologist, he'll let me know what's happening....I hope. He's a wonderful man
and been there for me through the breast cancer and the leukemia.....20 years
now. I feel very fortunate to have this person in my life. I never leave his
office without a big hug and kiss on the cheek. That alone makes a difference.
Having a very caring doctor is half the battle...or so I'm told.

I pray that you will do well on the Gleevec. Others have had wonderful results
on it. Do keep in touch when you can. Hope that you're keeping warm. It was
-7 at midnight last night. We're due for more tomorrow into Monday, so hope
that we don't loose power as we are total electric and so I loose water, heat,
everything as it's all run by that.

Many hugs,
Millie

  Millie,

I don't usually post but I do follow the CML board and conversations. You
have been a true inspiration to me. Just know that you have more people than
you realize praying for you. I've had CML for two years and am doing well on
Gleevec. I also had Breast cancer ten years ago. All-in-all I am lucky to
have good health right now... I wish the same for you and many, many pain free
days. Blessings to you Millie

Hi Joyce.....Thank you for the lovely message that you sent to me. I think
that is why this site means so much to me. I can share and also receive many
good things from everyone.

I would give anything to be pain free for a day. I guess that isn't going
to happen as I do have severe arthritis and am in a wheel chair. Mostly I mind
it at night. During the day there are things to take my mind off of it and I
usually can cope with it then. I would like to be able to sleep better, so
perhaps going to an Orthopedic Doctor will help that issue. My doctor will
call me when she has that appointment set up. Mostly I do a lot of needle
work and that takes my mind to another place, which is good. I would love to be
able to play more with my little ones, and sometimes we play chase tag when I'm
in my chair. They hide, and I go find them....mostly pretending that I can't
see them, or find them. We do have fun, but usually it means missing my daily
nap, and I'm in need of that. I called them today as New Jersey is under a
state of emergency. They were fine and just playing and having fun. They
canceled school and that made them happy. They had to cancel it here in PA
too. At least in the eastern section.

I do have so many health issues and I'm lucky to be here at all, so I take
one day at a time, and deal with things as they come. If I didn't do that, I'd
drive myself crazy. There are times it all gets to me, but I sincerely try not
to let it. I would rather find someone and help them. It's the way I am. I
often wanted to be a Hospice volunteer and, if I could travel, that's what I'd
do. There are so many people who just need someone to talk to, and this site
gives us all the ability to share. I just hope that I don't bore people with
my messages. I do enjoy hearing about what the others are doing. It seems to
take me away from what's wrong with me, and I'm better able to deal with things.

At any rate, I do thank you for your wonderful message and I do appreciate
your taking an interest. If you want to, tell me about yourself and how long
you've had the CML. I'm a fortunate person as I've been dealing with my
cancers for 20 years now. I do believe that the meds have a lot to do with the
pain that I feel, but some was always there.

    Have a wonderful New Year.
    Hugs,
    Millie

    Millie,
I have been reading and monitoring your posts for awhile. You seem to have
more than your share of problems but you are bearing them with hope and
patience. I sincerely hope and pray that your doctors can find a way to help
you with your pain level. Pain has a way of taking its toll on a body.
In reading your account of having your family and young ones at the house,
I was reminded of a cartoon I once saw that showed a grandma with several
grandchildren getting into different things. The caption was: Dear Lord,
please give me the strength to endure all my BLESSINGS.......meaning her
increasing family. I have felt like that at times. It is always so good to
see the kids and grandkids come. And it is also good to see them go. They do
wear us out.
May the new year bring good things for you.
       Joyce in IL
