Hi Michelle. When I was on Gleevec, I had lots of bone pain, but never in the hands. Now, after two years on Tasigna, I noticed that for the last year or so my hands are just killing me. The pain is in the joints and sometimes in the muscles too. My former "claws of steel" are now having trouble opening a pickle jar! I never connected this to the Tasigna, thinking it is old age or arthritis, etc. Thanks for digging this up; it may shine a new light on this problem.
While I have the attention of your keenly analytical mind, here is a thought on the subject of drug absorption: My doc always tells me to drink lots of water and specifically, to swallow the Tasigna with a whole glass of water. If higher stomach acidity equals higher absorption, how much sense does that make? Wouldn't the water dilute everything in the stomach and thereby lower acidity? .....just thinking out loud........
