In addition to everything that Adam says, my interpretation of
"ECM' versus "CM' places strong emphasis on the proven ability of the
software to integrate
with enterprise applications, in particular ERP (enterprise resource
planning). That nowadays includes
CRM (customer relationship management), all accounting and supply chain
infrastructures
 KM, and all others.

Thanks for the reply Adam,
What about for content management applications?  I'm thinking more along the
lines of the term "Enterprise CONTENT management."  How is that different
from regular CMS?  What is it that makes a content managament package
"Enterprise" level?
