I agree with Michael Kowalski that the users of a CMS just want their
business problem to be solved, not a theoretical discussion.

Unfortunately, there are so many solutions in the CMS field that potential
customers are lost.
As a vendor you have to explain why your solution is better (for this
customer) than an other CMS. This is in many cases a theoretical
explanation.

In my opinion, the one who can bridge the gap between theory and a specific
business problem, has the biggest chance to win the contract... in the case
the customer is not only focused on price. And if he wants to see the
benefits and is able to judge them in a right way. In most cases this kind
of judgement is very difficult.
This is where consultants come into play (if the customer wants to hire
them, which will not be the case if the customer is looking for a low budget
solution). A possible disadvantage of consultants is that they are not
really vendor independent and/or are not aware of most solutions in the
marketplace.

So, now I come to my question: are there organisations that see themselves
as independently and assist customers ànd vendors to find the right solution
for a specific business problem?

Jan
