Believe it or not, it was *with* STEM that he was hitting the 16MB/var
limit. But, really, I just got lucky. This was already inside a
Pipeline stage, so I didn't have to worry about overcoming his fear of

Its not a fear per se, it would be an interesting exercise, but its a
job I just don't have the time to do, and even if I did the potential
for seriously destabilizing an email gateway that handles more than a
quarter of a million mails per day feeding hundreds of business critical
applications is just too high to make it a sensible thing to attempt.
We've had payroll applications break because there was one extra blank
on a SUBJECT line for goodness sakes, so we have to be VERY careful.
