Subject: VALIDATE?
I'm sure this has come up often enough before, but I'm not finding any
good examples. I have a list of fileids that may or may not be valid,
and I want to find which files exist. PIPE STATE bails with rc 20 as
soon as it sees an invalid fileid. I suppose I could use VERIFY to
validate them, but is there a straightforward way that doesn't depend on
knowing the list of valid characters? I'd like this to work even where
that list has been modified.
