Both input and output are defined by the same means.

The secondary input of locate is defined but not connected. This

is flagged by the scanner as an error.

OK. I had assumed that a label reference at the start of a specification
only created an output stream. It appears from what you say that a label
reference always creates both input and output streams.  Is this
behavior documented?
