When that's not there it discards all records until EOF. You could convince yourself with a secondary output on OUTSIDE and see all records coming out there... If you meant to select all mini disks in the rance 1000-1BFF then you need something else. The classical approach is to merge the stream with the 1BFF sentinel to make sure you stop at 1BFF or the next larger one.
