If you'll forgive the long Subject above;

I have been racking the manuals trying to figure out how to translate this :
(word1 refers to a space delineated alphabetic string)
"
SPEC
SELECT SECOND
a: word1 .
BREAK a
(do stuff here)
"
--(The above performs: " the contents of the equivalent field on the primary
input stream are compared with the field specified in the item. That is, the
first and second readings are compared.")

Into a SPEC IF/THEN/ELSE/ENDIF structure whose Expression compares a specific
Field on both the Secondary reading station and the Primary reading station.

I believe it is likely possible, because the Author's Edition of the PIPE
manual states: "The break items are a convenience; they can also be formulated
with IF."

...I just can't seem to figure out the correct syntax for the SPEC IF's string
comparison Expression when trying to use both the Secondary and Primary reading
stations within the same Expression.

Any ideas?
