If you set the RANGE to what you want to process, there is no need for a
TAKE in the PIPE.
Rougly: 'COMMAND SET RANGE 0' target
'COMMAND -*'; address '' 'PIPE ...
Restoring a previous RANGE set by the end-user is more complex when lines
are added or deleted
