I'd like to download and work with CMUCL on my Sparcstation LX, but that seems to present a few problems. First, I'm running NetBSD 1.5.3 (effectively, it will be released real soon now 8^) and there doesn't seem to be any binaries to get for that.
Possible options I can imagine are: 1) Dig up those Solaris 2.5.1 CDs and load the bits needed to do Solaris emulation on NetBSD, compile a native version from that. 2) Trash my NetBSD setup and install Solaris, run the Solaris stuff natively. 3) Give up, chase the wife and kids off the Mac and run MCL. 4) Get a better option from someone who has a clue about all this. As I remember I tried #1 a long time ago (perhaps with NetBSD 1.4 or earlier) and the emulation was not quite good enough to pull it off without core dumps before being able to do something useful. I'd really not try #2, and while I wouldn't mind #3, I don't think It would be very useful, since I'd have constant whining while someone else was griping about how they couldn't use the Sparc, or how it was too complicated. (Wives, 6 year olds, and 3 year olds can get that way some times. 8^) Perhaps someone can build the proper binaries for me on their machine, and just haven't put them in the FTP area... I may upgrade the machine to NetBSD 1.6 if that makes it nicer for anybody. I'll probably do that anyway, but I thought I'd recompile it myself if needed at that point. Jon PS, please cc: me on any replies to the list, as I'm not on it (yet) I didn't think it was worth spamming your server if the answer is "Give up dude."
