FWIW, I tend to agree with this assessment, i.e. for Alpha/Linux,
which AFAIK we don't currently support in any form, besides the
tarball in binaries, I'd really go with SBCL, unless you can bribe one
of us into maintaining Alpha/Linux ;).

I'd also guess that especially things like FFI/Alien tend to be broken
in most ports that aren't regularly maintained.
