I'm sorry, I don't understand. Did the C program I already gave not have appropriate semantics? It seems to me that I *can* open the file in both C and Perl, but not in CMUCL. Also, is NFS even relevant given that the file is on a local ext2 filesystem, rather than over the network?
I've written a Perl program that is breaking the file up into individual files for CMUCL to read, so this problem isn't directly stopping me from doing work, but it was irksome. rif > > Ok.
