Just fixed my Autohelm problem. The new belt was too tight and the motor always engaged. I had replaced the belt with one from the web and it seemed too tight. I bought a second belt from Defender. Both belts have the same part number stamped into them. While working with the Raymarine tech guy by phone, we compared how far the hand lever was supposed to swing compared to nubs on the grey housing. There was my problem. My lever didn't swing over the nubs. I had tigtened it's allen screw cause it was loose, and it couldn't clear the nubs like it's supposed to.
Moral, be sure your lever screw is snug, but not so tight that it prevents the lever from swinging over the nubs which are intended to hold the lever on or off. Chuck Resolute 1990 C&C 34R Atlantic City, NJ
