Sailing a boat, especially cruising, is IMHO a PITA if that boat has checkstays, running backs or a baby stay...for all that extra rigging the boat should sail like a rocket...yet when you compare based on PHRF and actual speed on the water, many of the 1980's vintage boats of comparable size with such complicated rigs are barely faster than the old 35 MKI's and II's...makes one wonder, why they bothered to change
