I would rig a loud alarm to a float switch higher than the normal one that runs
the pump(s). If for no other reason than to see what is annoying them, someone
will come down and check it out.

Joe,

I just moved her to Chesapeake Harbour. She'll be there until a slip opens up
at Orchard Beach Marina on Mill Creek. At least I'm near Fawcetts and West if
I need something.

I might try that first. I have an old laptop with a camera. Aim it into the
bilge with a ruler in the bilge so I can see if the pump is working. Its not
as good as an alarm, but its better than not having anything.

This would also work:

Joe,

What system do you use? I remember you setting it up.

Sooner or later I will add a bilge alarm to this setup and maybe shorepower
voltage.
I have a couple of these cameras at home as so far it is a major PITA trying to
get them through the local ISP so I can see them from outside my home LAN. You
would need to arrange port forwarding with the marina more than likely. What I
do now is FTP every 5 minutes or so.

Joel,

Unless you're watching, it won't help. There are wireless bilge and boat
systems monitors available. They will alert you when a problem is observed.
Do some research to see if one satisfies your needs.

Because I'm leaving my boat in the water this winter I'm thinking of adding one
of these:

I have internet access from the marina. I could leave the bilge open and check
on the boat remotely.
Has anyone done anything similar?
