Marine beam.com has two color LED lights that retrofit into the bayonet
bulb holders and fixtures that came stock on my C&C 37+. The fixture used
to use a knob to click on, click off. With the new LED light it clicks on
red, then clicks off, if you click it again within 3 seconds it turns on
bright white, then clicks off. To get it back to red you have to wait
longer than the 3 seconds or else it will click back on bright white.
Though I'm not fond of how harsh the white is, I am quite fond of being
have red and white lights available from a fixture that was only meant to
have one. I put one in the salon, one in the head, one in the v-birth, and
one in the main cabin. That way while night sailing every compartment can
be lit but not mess up your vision. Hopefully they will release a warm
white version in the future.
