Yup. It's pretty hard to beat a well rigged ketch on a beam reach.
That's a lot of luff length running ahead of you.

I took first in fleet in the 60+ boat Caribbean 1500 twice in a row in
ketches. First, in a friend's HR49 ketch in 2008, then again in
Bojangles (Gulfstar 50 ketch) in 2009.
The sloops were all left to battle for second place.
