My C&C 26 with a single cylinder diesel ( SB 8? I think) has only a thru hull and sea cock, then a hose to the pump. The boat came from Lake George in upstate NY, a pristine fresh water lake that you can drink from. I think I should have some sort of strainer between the thru hull and the pump now that the boat is in the Hudson River. Suggestions & comments ?? Last year after the boat sat for 3 weeks, I started the engine and no water in the exhaust.... shut down and investigation eventually led to "Duck Weed" which had solidified into a plug in the hose. I've been thinking since that day that I should add something.................
