Even if you get a perfect match now, it won't age the same and will
probably mismatch in a few years. Or you can mismatch it now, and hope
that in a few years it will age to match the rest, but it probably won't.
I've done a few gelcoat mismatches, and after too much effort said F it
and moved on. 12 years later I don't even notice, and they're on the
cabin top in the cockpit. When I bought the boat, I noticed a couple of
small gashes in the topsides gelcoat that went down to the laminate,
just under the toe rail on the port side. Somebody offered to take my
money to fix them, but I was focused on bigger projects (rig) at the
time. I guess they're still there. The boat sails just fine.
