I used a company that custom mixed gel coat color, much like they do with custom color matching at paint suppliers. They required a small chip for color matching. The match was spot on and after three years you have to look very closely to see the repair. As time goes on they will probably divert a bit more. I recently rebidded some deck hardware and can attest to the fact that the deck and hull have faded significantly since new (1983) and that using the original color would likely result in significant mismatch
If of interest I can go looking for the can and try and get the company name. The downside is that minimum quantity is 1 gallon, at about $150. When I bought the boat, I noticed a couple of small gashes in the topsides gelcoat that went down to the laminate, just under the toe rail on the port side. Somebody offered to take my money to fix them, but I was focused on bigger projects (rig) at the time. I guess they're still there.
