Sorry Chuck, missed the 6'3" draft line. Barnegat Bay has the races you'd like, but you'd be aground all the time. Without travelling too far, I believe the bays and rivers behind Manasquan inlet host deep draft boats like yours and you be driving against the traffic flow on the GSP. Of course Sandy went through there so I'm not sure how things stand now. It's an easy enough drive from Mays Landing to check it out. Look at the charts too.
I also sailed out of Branford, CT. Great little town, nice river, deep clean waters. Never got involved in racing there, mostly cruising the western LI Sound and east to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, north up into Narragansett Bay. Nice. They raced Wednesday nights and I couldn't make that. Sailing is beautiful from early Spring to late Fall. The trip used to take me 1.75 hours from northern NJ and with good routing and off peak travel should easily meet your drive time criteria.
