It is important to get the lifting point on the crane directly above the mast. If not the mast well tip once it is disconnected from the keelstep. Positioning of the tip of the mast crane is done by rotating the mast crane and/or moving the mast boom in or out. Remember that adjusting the boom in or out will affect the height of the tip, so you may also need to adjust the lifting cable.


Alternatively, you can move the hull to position the mast by adjusting the bow, stern and spring lines. You want the hull to move as little as possible and to be tight against the dock, so you can easily step from the deck to the dock while holding the mast. Readjusting the lines may result in the boat too far off the dock. Moving the boom is a better option if possible.
