Years ago, we bought a Kirby 25 from Mark Bruckmann of Bruckmann Yachts in Mississauga, Ontario. He and his business partner, Bryan Simms, were campaigning the boat in the Toronto area, and from what I understand from a K25 site, similar to our C&C site, they were pretty successful with it.

They changed the name from 'Zoom' to "403 Yard Bin" (40 cube Yard Bin, can't raise the 3). They didn't want the name to come with the boat and I wasn't sure I wanted it. I had to ask where it came from. Mark said when they bought the K25 and took it into the factory at Bruckmann to get it ready to race, his staff/workers said to him that he if didn't stop cutting and tearing the boat up and throwing everything away, they would fill up the 40 cubic metre yard bin (commonly called dumpsters in other locals) sitting next to the boat.

When I heard the story, I wanted the name.....they reluctantly agreed and the boat came with it on both sides of the quarter panel. The kids at our club in the junior sailing program thought the name was 'cool' for an old guy like me.

We campaigned the K25 for 7 years here and when we decided to sell it in the Fall of 2004, coincidentally, the same people we bought it from, bought it back and trailered it back to Toronto.
