Dennis, Every headsail on both of my boats is folded like you describe. And I am constantly surprised that I need to teach just about everyone how to stow a headsail.
I'm sure most of them think I'm just an old, opinionated, crotchety guy. But I grew up sailing small boats with hanked on sails in Lake Michigan, and you learn to stow the headsails so they go up quickly and smoothly - or you get to drink a lot of cold lake water. I guess roller curlers and the general demise of hanked on sails has made stowing headsails a lost art form.
