The overflowing sink is a perennial problem on my boat. In any weather over 10 kts, I always close the seacock below the sink. It's a simple and cheap solution, but requires my memory to function correctly. Mine was filling up and overflowing unless the sink plug was in or the drain cock closed. I suppose the proper thing for a seaman to do would be to close the drain cock but this can be inconvenient when cruising. I installed a check valve and this worked but it is not of marine quality and is corroding. I don't think a vented loop will work on a gravity fed drain. Any other solutions?
