Steve, It sound like your transmission needs to be replaced, or will be very soon. Shifting in high RPMs will damage it very quickly. Here’s a quick test — see you can manually shift the boat into reverse from the lever on the engine at low RPMs. If the boat goes into gear, you may just need to tighten or replace the shifting cable.
