Next year I'll take it apart and take the wood out , its bedded with life-calk
so that should be doable. I'll dry the wood out and soak it with cpes ( Clear
Penetrating Epoxy Sealer). I've used this before its a watery epoxy that sinks
deep into wood and makes it hard as a rock. When re-installed with calking and
tightened there will be a stable watertight seal that will not be affected by
moisture. Now as long as the boat doesn't sink ..........
