have been using my iPads and navionics as a standalone chartplotter with a
garmin glo Bluetooth GPS antenna. Boat is 100% nmea2000/(SeatalkNG, mostly
2015/16 raymarine stuff, icom n2k vhf/AIS. Next step is to integrate a
chartplotter, and retain the redundancy of the iPad GPS.

I Have evaluated dedicated chartplotter/mfd options and have decided instead to
integrate the iPads. To do this I have ordered a vYacht n2k router, and will
switch to iNavx. (This router also has usb, lan and wan Ethernet ports, and
sea talk and NMEA 0183 ports.)

I don't think this setup will give me a remote for the Ray ev100 autopilot
anytime soon, however development of tools, apps and hacks is accelerating. -
it's an interesting space, and the tablet approach is certainly
upgrade-friendly. I really like being able to run my favourite apps on my
chartplotter, and will have three separate GPS antennae available on the
network. (iPad, Bluetooth, n2k.).

Anyway, it all seems rosy. Anyone else running this sort of setup, and any
comments on apps, pitfalls, etc?

Thanks, Dave, weak geek, Windstar 33-2
