There is a tape that is designed for oil fittings. It is not the same tape as we use for household plumbing. It looks very similar but the roll I was given is pink

My guess is that the tape would get damaged enough during installation to allow a good ground connection. Of course, you can check it with an ohm meter after installation to be sure.
