Hi Mike, I have the same boat and removed the twin rail foil this year and installed the Seafurl-5 Model H253. I bought this Searfurl the year prior at a price that I couldn't pass up and am very happy with it after using it for the year. I installed myself and was able to use the existing rod forestay. The only change I needed to do to the rod rigging was change the marine eye at the top of the forestay and then cold heading the rod. A local rigging shop did the cold heading on the rod for me while I waited. Once that was done, I was able to assemble and install in about 4-5 hours. If you have questions, contact me off list.
Paul Hood '81 C&C34 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm sure there is loads of experience on roller furlers out there...can you share some of it? I have a 1981 C&C 34 with a track on the forestay. I am considering replacing this with a roller furler I'd like to be able to install myself, and I'd like to keep the existing forestay as it's rod and I'd rather not have to disturb it by shortening it as some of the systems require. I'd also like not to have to change it to wire (at least one furler manufacturer claims their system is not compatible with rod rigging). Profurl seems a possibility, Harken would need to shorten the stay. Any comments would be appreciated!
