Looks like we must be having a hard winter if we are already into the annual
“Old British Sports Cars” discussion...

A friend and I co-owned a Triumph TR4-IRS when we were juniors in high school
in the mid 60’s. It had webbing straps under the half shafts on the IRS half
axles to keep you from folding them under the chassis in a hard corner. I think
before they redesigned the car and called it a Spitfire they improved the rear
suspension.

Now if they had just been able to do something about the Lucas ignition. If the
neighbor’s dog took a leak in the front yard it was too humid for the Triumph
to start. Every British Leyland or Triumph owner knows why the British drink
warm beer… Lucas Refrigerators!

A Triumph Spitfire. My best buddy in high school had one of those, bright
yellow. We tried hard to roll it with high-speed cornering, but never
succeeded.

Cheers,
