I'm in...I'll be happy to assist gratuity wise if needed as well....Just
thinking,  this person, and Antoine, the guy who did the Atlantic in a 39 a few
years back would be excellent speakers at a rendezvous....; there are others
who have done Bermuda races etc....

I was recently introduced to the gentlemen who sailed across the Atlantic on
his C&C 27 Mk 5 in 1992.
He has graciously accepted my offer to have him speak  of his experience to our
group via conference call.
Is there interest?

I am curious why you feel the need to undertake this project.  Do you have too
much play?  What are the symptoms that concern you? On a related note, the day
I hauled my 42 for the winter I noticed that the wheel was difficult to turn
(it normally spins very freely).  It felt like the Edson pedestal brake was on,
but it wasn’t.  Any thoughts on what may have caused the resistance?   From:

is too much and does anyone know sizes and how to remove upper and lower
bearings... and any other info on what I might be in for tackling this
job...Thanks

I'd be more interested in a transcript or recording so that I can review on my
own time.  I have an odd work schedule.

A long time ago I experienced the same problem (hard to turn the wheel) on my
Landfall 38.  It turned out to be a misaligned upper bearing on the rudder
shaft--the one that bolts thru the cockpit floor.  It was an easy fix by my
boatyard.
