Danny,
appreciate the comments for sure and I totally agree
I did blow up initially on the Scratch (dodger is brand new not a nick) it’s
the main panel in center so not an easy or cheap fix. Clearly these girls have
no idea or training on how to remove canvas or clean a boat beyond a good wash.
I actually already apologized for my tone and language and agreed not the way
to solve that was before they came back ( to make it right?) and stripped the
chrome! :( Now doing my best to remain calm. But owner is stating it was like
that is wearing on me as I have pictures from before they came on board.
Whatever they used not cleaned off has eaten into Bimini bolts and now rust
stains again none of these issues for last 2 years? The fact that it looks so
much worse than when they started is hard to swallow on our beloved boats for
sure.
I plan to keep this boat and It will never happen again. Posting so other
rookies don’t get similar issues. Do it yourself or go over in detail what is
to be done and what they will use to do so!
Happy 4th !!

This is exactly why I hate letting people work on my boat...

The fact is that, had you tried polishing yourself, you may have had similar
results. However, you might have stopped after the first one...

It really was just a matter of time before those parts started looking like
that... I think for your own better mental health, you could come to an
agreement with the guy to not have to pay and see if he'll pay to fix the
Dodger. Bring it somewhere reputable and send the guy the bill. If the glass
wasn't perfect to begin with, maybe you could split the cost because you're
ending up with better than you had. If your glass was perfect then he should
foot the whole bill. In the end try not to get to angry. Just work with guy
and allow him the opportunity to make it right. I've been through 3 much
bigger ordeals than this on 2 different boats. My advice is, don't take it
personally and just try to fix the issue with as little pain as possible and
put it behind you as soon as possible. You'll be much happier in the end and
enjoy your boat much more! Keep in mind, this guy didn't want this situation
as much as you didn't. Stay calm and try not to be angry with him (this is
your biggest hurdle! ) and see where he goes with it.

One ordeal I had was the yard picked my boat up from the prop shaft and lied to
management about it. Management sided with their guys and came up with all
kinds of reasons why my strut broke and why my prop was vibrating mercilessly
under power, and none of those reasons could be their fault. So, I addressed
all their theories one at a time, calmly and never losing my cool. None of
their theories solved the issue and in the end they had ri admit they did it at
haul out. The owner of the yard apologized and covered all the cost of chasing
things down, fixed my boat put me back in and I had wonderful season. It cost
me about 6 weeks though. It was the first year I was in before memorial day
and with all that I was back in just before the 4 th of July. I shook hands
with the owner professed no hard feelings and gained a really nice relationship
with the owner afterwards.

The second issue was way worse, same story though. The yard screwed up, would
not own it made up lots of fantasy scenarios as to why it couldn't be their
fault. I had it fixed, during the repairs, their mistake was revealed without
doubt. Boat got fixed, gained some good relationships along they way and I'm
now happy and only feel sorry for the jackass that couldn't behave like a
gentleman or a professional, and had a huge spotlight shined on his failings in
the process. That guy never apologized or anything but had to eat crow to not
only his regional manager but the three vice president of the north east
division after all the shit he talked about me "just trying to get something
for nothing!"

Sorry for the long blathering...

Thanks,
Danny
