When you say ran out of fuel do you mean the level of fuel in your fuel filter dropped below the outlet?
Which Racor? A 500? If so, check the gasket and check the top for warping. A warped top may not seal properly and may begin to leak when the fuel level gets down to 1/2 tank or so. Dennis C.
