You have the water flow correct. These are things you can check: Remove the cap (like a radiator cap) and check the water/antifreeze level. Check the level of the fluid in the overflow container (access from the port cockpit locker) Close the seacock; open the sea strainer; open the seacock. Water should gush through. As long as it's open, clean the strainer. When you put the cap back on the sea strainer, make sure you have a good fit. If air enters, you won't get water flow. Check the tension on the water pump belt. Check the impeller. If any fins are missing, find and remove them. If you have the original mixing elbow, it could be clogged, especially if you sail in salt water. Remove it, and clean it out.
