I charge the batteries to full, disconnect everything (I mean everything) and
leave them on the boat for the winter. They last quite well. Last spring (late
April, we didn't have access to the boats until then), they were both at 12.65
V after 6 month of sitting idle.

I am in Ottawa, so I know how cold and long our winter is.

A solar panel would need to be looked after - snow removed, pointed in the
right direction, etc. Honestly, more maintenance with it than without.

Is it okay if I leave the solar panels up and hooked to batteries on the boat
over the winter in Ottawa where it gets cold !

Or should I disconnect the system and store the battery inside the house ?
