The deck felt solid, so I doubt it was bad balsa. The issue is my boat needs
the deck painted, so my wife would hit me with a boat pole if I bought ANOTHER
boat and then had to get the deck painted. The only thing the boat needed right
away was an autopilot, SSB, and AIS, it had a VHF, plotter, radar, depth,
speed, and wind instrument. I assumed it worked, but some of it was pretty old.

Do you think it was from too thick of gel coat, or bad balsa?
It also looked like you would have had a lot of bucks in electronics upgrading.

The 40 is selling for $45K. The hull is gorgeous white Awlgrip. But the deck is
original with more crazing in more places than I think I have seen in a long
time.
